Psy's Gangnam Style: One Billion Hits Today!

"Psy hits all the symbols of Gangnam (Seoul rich area) opulence, but each turns out to be something
much more modest, as if suggesting that Gangnam-style wealth is not as fabulous
as it might seem."
From Onsemiro's blog 'My Dear Korea'.

Deeper inside the meaning, now...

THE ATLANTIC wrote: ''The video is rich with subtle references that, along with the song
itself, suggest a subtext with a surprisingly subversive message about class and wealth
in contemporary South Korean society''. [MORE]

I definitely HATE the NEW BLOGGER!

Twice I've expressed my dissatisfaction with the new Blogger interface:
- October 06/2012: How could Blogger do this to G@tto?
- April 05/2012: Not Sure 'the New Blogger' is welcome!

The first time, it was kind of a test, you still could use the old version, but the second
time the changes were applied permanently. No way back, no choice, finished!
Freedom, with Blogger-blogging, was over.

This dissatisfaction has rapidly evolved into a rage that literally chokes me every time
I want to publish something, and images in particular.
What emerges from this is a clear decrease in the number of posts per month on this

blog - this decrease being directly connected with the need to reduce the number of
my uncontrollable anger attacks!

In this struggle for survival, your faithful blogging-c@t, is forced and compelled, after
six years of friendly collaboration with Blogger, to abandon 'the traitor'to find a more
welcoming platform... if any.

Have a pleasant 'Bastille Day', you all in France!

Yours faithful,
G@tto

Le MUR: Too late to unchain Hondo's wall...

Le M.U.R. - # 124 - July 12/2012 - HONDO's installation didn't last longtime !

Below: that was yesterday afternoon's happening, with the installation of Hondo's work on
the Oberkampf wall, (with the help of Thom Thom).

In fact, today, I thought that someone, by night, had probably ran out of chains... Nope!
That's actually was, and is - because the show goes on - a performance in several stages
chaining and unchaining that poor wall... again and again. OK, that's it.
But nobody told me! Aaargh!

Storm of a jewelery in Paris/Oberkampf

A motorcyclist rolling on the sidewalk almost bumped my neighbor Fifi, this morning.

[The blue shop right hand - StreetView]
Fifi wanted to yell after him,
but something in the look of
the guy made him change his
mind.

Three other bikers arrived and
the four of them attacked the
jewelery at 75, rue Oberkampf.
Fifi found the time lapse very

long when he called the police
from a nearby shop, while
hearing gunshots.
When at last firefighters and

police arrived, the four guys
had already left, having robbed
and injured the jeweler and his
son.

PPG is not here, nor is it qualified, to relay this type of event, but Police and media are
silent, to avoid tarnishing the Capital reputation... particularly in summer time, when hordes
of tourists flock into the city.

Did I say 'summer time'? Now, this is hard to believe!

Etienne Chouard at TEDx Republique Square, Paris

"In 2005, before the European referundum, while teaching economics and law,
Etienne Chouard looked closely to the draft version of the European Constitution
What he discovered changed him forever. He woke up, policatilly.
Since then, and independently from any political organizations, he warns us against
our apathy, denounces our responsibility and wants to restore the true meaning of
democracy.
His motto : a Constitution written by citizens and representatives selected by sortition."

'End Sexual Harassment' day needs you!

Blog and Tweet today to #EndSH !

When Lara Logan broke the silence and CBS could reveal what happened to her in Tahrir
Square the night of Moubarak resignation, the veil fell and Egyptian women were finally
able to publicly denounce what over two thirds of them suffer daily - which is although
a shame for the country.
Whatever the reasons behind these brutal attacks on women - particularly singled out
in Egypt among other Muslim countries - it was time to denounce this outrageous behavior.
Its resurgence since the fall of the regime suggests that this could be now a means used
by the military to hold off at least women from Tahrir's democratic claims.

Check this: Sexual Assault as Political Tool: 'Men Attacking Women at Tahrir Square'
[Sarah A. Topol/The DailyBeast]
كلام بيقولوا رجالة للي بيعاكسوا البنات في الشارع

"Egyptian activists declared Wednesday June 13 as the day to write about sexual
harassment on social websites and blogs in an effort to combat the rising level of
sexual violence in the country."
"Female protesters and visitors to Tahrir square reported a dramatic increase in sexual
violence against female activists over the past week, which led many to believe that
the incidents are part of an organized plan by the state to intimidate protesters."

[BikyaMasr]

During the previous protest, on June 8th...
"An anti-sexual harassment demonstration organized by over 20 Egyptian women’s
groups in protest against the recent escalation of assaults in Cairo’s Tahrir Square
was attacked about an hour and half after it began by unknown troublemakers."
[Read more on BikyaMasr]

The "End Harassment" campaign went on line in 2011, promoted by the HarassMAP
site:
"Egypt’s most effective organization that has been tallying incidents of harassment across the country
in an effort to help assist women when they traverse what has become and almost war zone-like
atmosphere. Harassment is everywhere, but the online campaigners say it can end."
[June 21/2011, Joseph Mayton].

A Tunisian Journalist Call, via Le M.U.R./Facebook

You are a Tunisian street artist or one of your friends is... or maybe you have a good knowledge
of the GRAFFITI / URBAN ART scene in Tunisia... Will you please be so kind to leave a comment on
LE M.U.R. right HERE?
A Tunisian journalist - aiming to present an overview of Street Arts spreading around in Tunisia
since the spring revolution and the departure of Ben Ali - will get in touch with you.

... Throughout Tunisia, giant murals of ordinary people replaced large portraits of Ben Ali.
In the gutted ruins of government buildings, the burned husks of presidential palaces, and other locations like
billboards, walls, along streets and the Porte de France, in Tunis, they aimed to provoke discussion ‘in a world
turned upside down or inside out’, transforming the streets and areas of social conflict into new arenas for
discourse and dialogue."

Any question about URBAN ART in Tunisia... like why? when? where? how?
Find the answers on Brandon Letzinger's essay 'Creating the Political: Street Art after the 2011
Tunisian revolution.

Now this really is enough with that Assad dinasty!

- It is inconceivable that a criminal, under the pretext
of being the leader of a country, have a right to life
and death over his people.
- It is inconceivable that the action of the international
community could be prevented or slowed by despicable
considerations of diplomatic order
- How happens we still are unable to recognize and stop
from its beginnings another escalation leading to such
a massacre
- How happens we still are so impervious to the
lessons of history?
